A synthetic ACTH-fragment analog studied in neuropeptide research.
Semax is a synthetic heptapeptide developed in Russia, and it is one of the best-known compounds in cognitive-research literature.
Semax is built from a fragment of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH 4-10) with an added Pro-Gly-Pro tail that improves its stability. It was designed to keep the neuropeptide activity of the fragment without the hormonal activity of full ACTH.
Published studies, largely from Russian research groups, examine how Semax affects brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) expression in animal models.
Much of the literature uses ischemia and stress models. Results from those models should not be read as outcomes in any other setting.
Semax and Selank are often compared: they come from related research traditions but are examined for different signalling profiles. Read the comparison →
All of the above is research context from laboratory models. Semax is supplied for research use only and is not a treatment.
Ask for a batch-specific COA with HPLC purity and mass-spec identity. Here is how to read one.
